My First Podcast Appearance!
I recently joined my mate, Peter, on his podcast Alone with Peter, for a 3-part podcast about my tennis then travel journey. Alone With Peter is a show for entrepreneurs, artists, digital nomads, and people seeking personal growth. I met Peter while traveling in Hanoi, Vietnam in early 2020. We met just prior to the global outbreak of Covid-19. At the time, Peter was teaching English in South Korea.
Learn More About My Tennis Then Travel Journey
Below are links to the three podcast episodes I recorded with Peter. On the podcast, I discuss my decision to quit my corporate life to pursue competitive tennis and then travel the world. Then, we dive into my tennis journey, my world travels, and my latest project: the Hostel Mate mobile app. Lastly, I provide simple and actionable advice on saving, investing, and budgeting. You too can prioritize the important goals in your life and save money to give yourself the financial freedom necessary to pursue your dreams.
Being on a Podcast: Always Smart to Step Outside Comfort Zone
When Peter asked me to be on his podcast, I was wary, because I knew that it would be a new and uncomfortable experience. When I am writing, I often feel I can hide behind written text. I don’t stutter, and I have the opportunity to be fussy when selecting words. But not only that, when spoken out loud, your voice, with its timbre, rhythm, and uniqueness, adds dimension to your words. I was afraid that being on a podcast would give listeners to the opportunity to see through the words and reveal the true me. Although I felt uncomfortable recording, similar to travel, the podcast forced me to step outside my comfort zone. In the end, I found the experience to be rewarding and worthwhile.
Side note: if you are on a podcast, I recommend buying a decent microphone. It can really make a difference. My computer microphone really didn’t cut it!
Thanks for Having Me on Your Show, Peter!
Connecting with people and befriending travel mates is one of the main reasons traveling is so special. Peter is a passionate, genuine, and animated American, and I’m very happy that we have stayed in touch these past couple of years. Thanks for having me on your terrific podcast, Peter! Best of luck buddy!
